Colleen Stadlwieser RYT200, Certified Holistic Birth Doula, HCHD

Birth and yoga have been a significant part of my life for a very long time. I attended my first yoga class in my early twenties and have been on a journey towards deepening my practice since. Attending births became a calling for me in my early twenties and has continued to inspire me today. Shortly after embarking upon birth work, infertility and miscarriage became a part of my life and resulted in a break in my birth keeping journey. Experiencing grief, infertility, adoption, and birth have enabled me to provide compassionate care for families going through similar challenges on their path to parenthood. Yoga has been a gift I have been able to use for coping with these experiences. By holding space for myself during these experiences I have been able to nurture those in my care regardless of birthing outcomes. It is my honour to serve the families of Leduc, Edmonton and surrounding areas as a birth doula.

I know birth as an empowering, life changing event that has the power to make families stronger and heal society. As a Certified Birth Doula, I am privileged to support birth givers and their partners on the journey of bringing forth new life. I believe that respecting the intuition of the birth giver is critical to ensuring a healthy delivery. Embracing the family in a loving and caring manner throughout their transition to parenthood, and building confidence by exemplifying the necessary love and nourishment that parents will need to provide for their children is an essential part of the services provided by Authentixc Heart Listening Doula Services. My promise is to nourish expectant parents by awakening them to their own wisdom, power and intuition as birth givers while bearing witness to the sacredness of their birth.

Yoga has been gifted to me several times throughout my life in the journeys I have taken and by the people who have supported me throughout my life. Yoga asks us to embrace our authentic selves and to live in our truth daily. Embracing love, compassion, and stillness helps us embrace our true authentic selves and to serve others. Teaching yoga is a gift that I wish to offer those on this journey towards authenticity. Authentic Heart Listening Yoga services offers registered yoga classes including hatha, prenatal, postnatal, and couples.

Pregnancy Yoga

As a professional Birth Doula, I’ve received training from several doula certifying organizations, as well as through my studies in Mexico. I completed my initial training with Doulas of North America (DONA) in 1999.

In 2017 I retrained with Motherwit Doulas out of Montreal, Canada. In 2018, I became a Certified Holistic Birth Doula with The Matrona

Furthermore, I am an accredited La Leche League leader in Leduc. In September of 2019, I completed my Hypnobabies® Childbirth Hypnosis Doula training. I am able to offer  doula support to my clients in English and Spanish.

I have volunteered for the Association for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth

(ASAC) since 2015 and Terra Association, both which are located in Edmonton.

Additionally, I am an active member of the Doula Association of Edmonton (DAE) and regularly attend meetings.

I also have personal experience and training specific to miscarriage, perinatal loss and infertility and I strive to support families experiencing any sort of loss in pregnancy. As such, I provide meditations in Leduc and Edmonton covering pregnancy loss, infertility, pregnancy and birth.

I maintain my skills and knowledge through continued education and research and am always looking for new evidence- based research to share with my clients.

Birth is a sacred time of transformation in a family's life and I am honoured to witness and hold space for anyone taking this journey as their birth doula. Check out our blog for information on meditations, infant feeding, and supporting families experiencing grief and loss.

I completed my 200 hour registered yoga teacher training through Yogalife in Edmonton in 2019. I am currently working towards completion of my prenatal certification with Mamata Yoga in Edmonton and will be finished in the spring of 2020. Additionally, I am registered with the Yoga Association of Alberta.

Pregnant Woman

"A woman, as long as she lives, will remember how she was made to feel at her birth."

   -Anna Verwaal

I am a registered yoga teacher and completed my 200 hour certification training through Yogalife in Edmonton in 2019.

I became a certified holistic doula with the Matrona in April of 2018. This certification will allow my clients to claim health spending benefits with some health insurance companies.

I have taken courses on holding space during pregnancy loss, and have access to multiple resources on yoga, birth, death, and breath.

Hypnosis is an amazing tool to use during your birthing time for comfort, confidence and relaxation. I became a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Doula in September of 2019. Here is my listing to verify.
If you're considering using Hypnosis for childbirth and have taken any Hypnosis for childbirth course, I would be honoured to support you on your birthing journey.

I have been a member in good standing with the doula association of Edmonton since September of 2017.
